LEARN TO PLAY

Helping Young Athletes Take the Next Step—Confidently.

Choosing the right environment for your child’s soccer development isn’t just about the league. It’s about the people, the philosophy, and the pathway. At Kingston United, we believe that great players aren’t found. They’re developed.

A True Player Pathway

*No Gimmicks. No Guesswork. Just Growth.

*We’re Not a Franchise. We’re a Family.

*Buliding a Path Forward - TOGETHER

WHY Kingston United and Learn to play

We’re proud to be Eastern Ontario’s only truly local, community rooted Learn to Play program.
But what makes us different isn’t just geography. It’s our approach.

a true player pathway

Active Start & Physical Literacy (U4–U6)

The journey begins with Canada Soccer’s Active Start model, where kids learn the building blocks of movement — running, jumping, kicking, balance, and coordination.
Through fun, game-based activities, children develop confidence, creativity, and focus while learning to move with purpose.
This early stage isn’t just about soccer — it’s about laying the foundation for a lifetime of active living and teamwork.

Early Game Awareness & Team Play (U7–U8)

At this stage, players begin to understand the flow of the game — sharing the ball, learning positions, and playing cooperatively.
Coaches introduce light structure through small-sided games that keep every player involved.
The goal is progress, not perfection — to turn curiosity and movement into skill and strategy in an environment that’s playful, inclusive, and encouraging.

Building Confidence for the Next Level

As children grow through Learn to Play, they gain more than footwork — they build resilience, communication, and confidence.
These sessions help young athletes discover their strengths and set the stage for Kingston United’s Recreation and Competitive programs.
When the fundamentals are learned through fun, the pathway to success feels natural — and it all starts here at Kingston United.

No Gimmicks. No Guesswork. Just Growth.

Where Learning Feels Like Play — It’s Built Into Everything We Do

Kingston United’s Learn to Play program gives every young athlete the right start — one that follows Canada Soccer’s Active Start model for early development.
We focus on movement, coordination, balance, and confidence — skills that build strong athletes for life, not just for soccer.

Each session combines guided discovery with unstructured fun, helping children explore the game through laughter, curiosity, and teamwork.
Our certified coaches understand how young minds learn best: through imagination, repetition, and play with purpose.

By aligning with national standards, we ensure every child receives age-appropriate instruction that builds their physical literacy, emotional confidence, and love of movement.
When fun and fundamentals come together, development happens naturally — and every player feels like they belong.

At Kingston United, this isn’t just a soccer program — it’s the foundation of our player pathway, built to grow with your child from their very first kick.

This is the KU way — joyful, inclusive, and built for lifelong success.

We’re Not a Franchise. We’re a Family.

Developing Tomorrow’s Players Today — Through Canada Soccer’s Active Start Model

LEARN TO PLAY is CORE to who we are.

Some clubs treat early development as casual playtime—loosely organized, lightly structured, and easily overlooked.
At Kingston United, Learn to Play is not an add-on program. It’s the heartbeat of our player pathway.

We are proudly Kingston-run, Kingston-staffed, and Kingston-focused.
Every coach, volunteer, and family is part of something real—a community committed to helping every child take their first confident steps into soccer.

We’ve built this program around the Canada Soccer Active Start model, ensuring that learning through play, movement, and creativity forms the foundation of every session.
From balance and coordination to teamwork and communication, this is where the fundamentals take root.

We’ve invested in certified coaches who understand how children learn best—through fun, repetition, and encouragement.
We’ve also built lasting connections with parents who share our belief that growth happens through joy, not pressure.

And most importantly, we’ve built a culture—a mindset that values confidence, curiosity, and belonging as much as skill.

When our youngest players step on the field, they’re not just learning soccer—they’re learning how to move, listen, and work together. They carry Kingston’s spirit of play, pride, and perseverance from their very first kick.

Our success isn’t measured by wins or trophies—it’s measured by smiles, growth, and the strength of our community.

This is Kingston United Learn to Play—where every journey begins the right way.

Is Learn to Play right for my child?

The Right Environment for Growth

Every child deserves a place where play and learning come together in a safe, structured, and encouraging way.
Learn to Play at Kingston United is built around Canada Soccer’s Active Start model, focusing on movement, confidence, and fun.
Players are guided by certified coaches who understand child development — how kids think, move, and learn through play.
Each session is designed to help your child grow at their own pace — supported, celebrated, and smiling every step of the way.

Real Development. Real Fun.

Our Learn to Play sessions use small-sided games and creative activities that build coordination, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Kids don’t just learn how to kick — they learn how to move, listen, share, and succeed together.
It’s not about drills or pressure; it’s about discovery, imagination, and a love for the game that builds confidence both on and off the field.
Every pass, laugh, and cheer is a step toward stronger skills and bigger smiles.

A Great Place to Begin — and to Belong

Learn to Play is perfect for children who are new to soccer, still learning the basics, or just love to move.
We make sure every player feels included and valued, no matter their experience or ability.
Our community-first approach gives families a chance to connect while their kids build friendships, confidence, and lifelong habits of play.
If your child loves to run, explore, and have fun — Learn to Play is absolutely right for them.
